a (twelfth) confession

Me and my bangs have a very complicated, unhealthy relationship. If there were such a thing as bang therapy…my bangs and I…we’d be the first to enroll.

I’ll cut my bangs.
I won’t like them.
I’ll pin them back for a while.
They will start to grow-out.
They will hang funny.
The bangs start to look lifeless.
I grow them completely out.
I won’t have bangs.
I look in the mirror and realize my forehead looks HUGE.
I decide {because it’s like pregnancy and I forget} that life is better with bangs.
So I’ll cut myself more bangs.
Cut, rinse & repeat.

OH MY WORDY, THE LIFE WITH ALL THE MISBEHAVING BANGS!
It’s tough to be me.

I just cut my bangs again. I made myself promise me, with scissors in hand, that if I cut my bangs again I could not, should not, would not pin them back for a least three weeks.
It’s been a week and a half and so far, so good.

When my mom and I were visiting while preparing the Thanksgiving Feast the topic of the misbehaving bangs came up. Mom reminded me of a note that Josh S. had written me in 5th grade. In which he sweetly told me that he liked my “funky” bangs!

Why, thank you Josh S., t  h  a  n  k    y  o  u.
Just for you I’ll try to learn to embrace d'ole bangs and all their FUNK!

I love your bangs! I have had the same stupid lack of a haircut since the traumatizing perm I got in the seventh grade grew out.

This post cracked me up! I do the same dang thing. In fact, I just re-cut mine again this weekend after growing them out....because my forehead looked strangely huge...and now my bangs look even worse than I did without having them...dang. A vicious cycle. PS....I wish my bangs looked more like yours.

WOW IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME (I DIDN'T THINK IT HAD BEEN) BUT I HAD TO GO TO THE "OLDER" POSTS OPTION. ANY HOW BANGS LOOK GREAT BUT I THINK YOU LOOK GREAT BOTH WAYS. I'LL CALL YOU SOON ABOUT OUR DAY OUT!

They're really not so funky. They look nice. My bangs and I have the same issues. Mostly because after my high school car crash I acquired a cow lick type thing so we have issues.

I am so happy to hear that I am not the only one who struggles with the "fringe" (or so they call it now). Yours looks so cute.

If there were such a thing as bang therapy...I'd sign up too. Then afterwards the four of us (you, me and our bangs) would go get coffee. Except for you don't drink coffee. I'd buy you a hot chocolate. Or maybe some Diet Coke.

that's hilarious. I remember you saying the it would be the summer of the bobby pin because you cut bangs and you hated them. Bobby pin, bangs, or no bangs, You can rock it all girly! Right now I'm lookin at your picture and envisioning a short funky pixy think. Yep, you could even rock that.
