His response

I told Jace: Buddy, you melt my heart.

He told me: Geeeeez, Mom! Don’t say that, you crazy.

So I took it back and instead told him he was a stinky punkface.

Not really, but still … what a stinky punkface.

{A stinky punkface that totally melts my heart.}

P.S. Look who’s big enough to help with the dishes.

Red & Pink & Ten

Why would you want to marry me for anyhow?
…so I can kiss you anytime I want.
Sweet Home Alabama

Ten years ago today, Spence proposed! It included loads of ring boxes all filled with different rings, red roses, Sweet Home Alabama and two completely smitten twenty somethings. It’s one of my favorite love stories really. I should write it down someday. One of my favorite parts of the whole thing is that when he asked mom & dad if he could marry me he swore them to secrecy. Don’t tell a soul,” he said “because I’m not certain she’ll say yes!”
I’m so glad he had courage to ask despite his uncertainty. And I am so glad I was smart enough to answer yes. He makes life so fun.
P.S. When I answered the what would you like for Valentine’s Day question a week or two ago he did the exaggerated eye roll and asked why I couldn’t just want something that he could pick up last minute at Walmart. Ha.
Happy Valentine’s (in process) to me:
P.S. again. The kids and I are working on getting things decorated for our annual Valentine’s Day dinner while we watch the clock waiting (not so) patiently for our last guest to arrive. He should be home by five. Oh, and I am wearing the prettiest little MOM pipe cleaner crown that Brynlee gifted me first thing this morning. And Spence took me and Marlee to CafĂ© Rio for lunch. That little chicka loves a good black bean.

Happy 14th you guys.

Snow Halo

The kids ran outside this afternoon to stick their heads in the snow.

They were playing inside all perfectly content {and warm, might I add} when a brilliant idea hit. That brilliant idea being to leave their current state of warmth and comfort and to run outside and stick their wee little head in the frozen snow.
And so they ran outside {barefoot}, stuck their heads in the snow, laughed and giggled and laughed and scream, then ran back inside to report.
I’m raising a bunch of hoodlums.
Word.

the conversation {heart} conversation

I picked up a bag of conversation hearts while I was out grocery shopping today. Tis the season, I suppose.

And then at 2:28 Brynlee came bouncing through the front door, dragging behind coat and backpack. Oh, and her friend Alyssa too. After school play dates are becoming the new usual at our house and I am learning to embrace it.
Anyway, within seconds our entry way was littered with neglected coats, snow boots and book bags. And the two giggly girls had made there way to the kitchen table where they ate, read, and became completely disgusted by the little bowl of conversation hearts.
While they conversed, I eavesdropped.
Behold, my favorites:
Oh my gosh, this one says “kiss me” that is so disgusting!
Yeah. And most people give these to people at school, not to their mom & dad. That means they want people at school to kiss them. That’s DISGUSTING!!
*****
This one says “real love”.
Ewww….these are just wrong. They taste good, but they are just wrong!
*****
And this one says “cutie pie”. What if a boy at school gave that to a girl at school.
{uncontrollable laughter by both parties}
*****
“Lover Boy”? What. In. The. Heck. These are so weird.
*****
And my absolute favorite:

I bet a teenager wrote these.

Ha.

Happy love month, my friends.

Ur gr8,
Kim
