Olympian at Heart

Oh, the OLYMPICS! I can’t get enough. I love them. But, then again what is not to love about sitting on the couch with a pint of ice-cream watching others contend for six minutes something that they have spent an entire lifetime practicing for.

To be honest with you, I really think that I could do well in the Olympics. There is just one problem…I’m not all that athletic. I would say that gymnastics would be my event, but due to my quickly growing stomach I can no longer see (let alone touch) my toes so that might put a small kink in my training. And since I would rather eat my right arm then jump off any kind of diving board, and truly start to panic if my head goes under water I don’t think any of the swimming sports are for me. And seeing how The Race car Shopping Cart Marathon or Warming up DinoNuggets are not yet an Olympic Sport my Olympic dreams are on hold. It’s too bad, because I really could be the Michael Phelps of both of those events.

However, since I am a beauty school graduate, it might qualify me to help the female gymnast put 125 clippies in their hair before they perform. Seriously, there must be some kind of hidden purpose to all of those hair barrettes, because nobody in their right mind would take 35 minutes putting in hair clippies without a reason.

Or, I know, I could be an Olympic reporter. My first story would be on Michael Phelps and what he is listening to on his iPod. Why has Matt Lauer not jumped on this story? Bob Costas? SOMEONE. Get to it. Speaking of Michael Phelps, I seriously stress every time he wears his pants only swimsuit…those things are low and I fear a wardrobe malfunction at any moment.

I also have to say that Men’s Synchronized diving makes me a little uncomfortable. And, yet, as weird as Spence and I think it is, we can’t NOT watch it. In fact, we not only watch it, but I also find us making all sorts of comments about the speed of rotation and reaching vertical like we totally know what we’re talking about. And we do! Anyways, back to the Olympics for me.

Who has freakin time to watch the olympics? Oh yeah pregnant ladies who can't move much. The last time I watched the olympics was when I was in labor with Alec and then in the hospital after having Alec. I suppose that is the only time I have slowed down long enough to notice what is on tv!

You make me laugh too!

Your cute/ funny post inspired me, I turned on my tv. My daughter got one look and was instanly hooked. She loves figuring out what country they're from and wants me to tell her all the datails of the event how how difficult it is. Thankfully we haven't seen something like syncronized swimming because i don't have your expertise when it comes to that :) We've decided that if we turn it on at the end of the day we get a recap of all the realy exciting moments in only a few mintues time. That worked really well for us....way out of the blue, but I'm so excited for you and your boy!

Okay I watched some Olympics yesterday so you should be proud of me (though for the life of me I can't remember what I watched, so it didn't make a big impression on me, I guess I need to go and watch some more!)
